I've been sewing as long as I can remember. My mother always had a big pile of projects, and to keep me busy while she worked, she'd often find a scrap of fabric, put it in an embroidery hoop, draw simple shapes on it, and give it to me to embroider. As I got older and more skilled, we'd work on bigger and better projects together.
In thinking about a good machine sewing project to teach younger girls how to sew, I remembered an apron I'd made many years ago. The basic apron is very simple, but easy to embellish and add detail to, for even the most beginning sewer. I'm really looking forward to seeing how each girl personalizes hers.I'm going to be making a couple of these aprons with my girls this weekend. I'm so glad I've got so many guinea pigs to work with!
